Psychotherapy

I provide individual psychotherapy.

Therapy is a collaborative effort and together we will determine the right plan of action for you. My approach is greatly influenced by cognitive behavioral therapy where we explore the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and actions. I also utilize components of motivational interviewing and emotionally focused therapy. While I work with people facing a wide range of challenges, my areas of expertise include:
• Depression
• Anxiety/Worry
• Trauma
• Addiction and Recovery
• Co-occurring Disorders*

* Co-occurring disorders refers to someone who experiences a mental health and substance abuse problem. For example, someone who feels anxiety due to past trauma and drinks too much or someone who feels depressed and smokes marijuana to numb the pain. Sessions are geared toward understanding the relationship between substance abuse and mental health and ways to treat both.

Other topics addressed in therapy include:
• Work stress
• Relationships
• LGBT issues
• Sexuality and Gender
• Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
• Feeling overwhelmed with life in general
• Feeling lost
• Domestic violence
• Weight issues
• Self Esteem
• Anger
• HIV
